The Jelly Belly Factory

Who doesn't love jelly bellies? You're missing out if you don't. Read all about the Fairfield Jelly Belly Factory here!

Hi all! Welcome to my review and mini tour of the Jelly Belly Factory! You can take a look above at some of the amazing jelly bean artwork and other pictures I took while at the Jelly Belly Factory.

The Jelly Belly Factory (at least near us) is located in Fairfield, CA. I highly recommend this attraction because a lot of people don't know about it and it's super cool! There are a variety of things to do. They have a self guided tour of the factory, where you can observe workers in the factory and jelly bellies being made. But note the factory is only running during the week! So if you want to see jelly bellies coming to life, you must go during the week. They are still open on the weekend, but it's not as exciting since the jelly bellies aren't being made. They also have a museum across the way. There's a tram you can take, but we opted to walk since it's very close. There's also a cafe but we didn't stop in. And of course the shop! What's a jelly belly factory without

The admission is $7 for adults, $3 for children, and free for children under two. Plus with your purchase of a ticket, you get a free sample of something (it may not always be the case, but we got something!), free admission to the factory and the museum, as well as a tram ride to the museum across the way.

After we bought admission tickets, we headed up to the self guided tour. Before the tour started, we watched a quick video with some history about jelly bellies. Then we were on our way! Throughout the factory, we saw multiple videos which explained what was happening below us. In some areas, there were jelly beans being sorted for packing. In other areas, it was all just robots working on packing and one person supervising! This was super cool to watch especially with how far technology has come.

One of the robots we saw working was called the spider packer. This was definitely one of the most amazing robots. It would go back and forth, grabbing jelly belly bags, and putting them into boxes to be packed. Loved this robot and it was exciting to see how it worked!

During the tour we also were able to see jelly bellies being made! The machines they use to flavor and finish the jelly bellies look like ginormous washing machines. It was super interesting to see the workers pouring the syrup in and all the jelly bellies being moved around in the machines.

Throughout the tour, there were several interactive exhibit. Some of these included: smelling stations, fun mini games, and photo op points! We didn't try the games, but the smelling station was super interesting. Plus, they had several displays of jelly bean art during the tour. Fun fact: Did you know President Ronald Reagan's favorite jelly bean flavor is black licorice? He always had a jar of jelly beans on his desk too.

Once we finished the tour, we went to the mini art gallery which had more jelly bean artworks. Some of the artworks included Batman, the Mona Lisa, and U.S presidents. We then headed to buy some jelly beans. We each got a custom bag, and of course a bag of belly flops! Belly flops are jelly beans that didn't quite meet the standards for a normal jelly bean. For example some could be stuck together, or they could be in weird shapes! Either way we always end up buying a bag when we go.

The museum was small, but really quite fascinating. There were several machines that are no longer used, but extremely interesting. Makes me think of the time before robots!

Overall we definitely enjoyed the Jelly Belly Factory, and can't wait to go back again!
